Holding Sacred Space

Holding Sacred Space

Holding space for each other is a healing art that allows us to enter the field of the New Earth, where love is the vehicle to Unity Consciousness. Indeed, the New Earth manifests in collaboration, with the deep knowledge that each one holds space for the other….a circle of deep connection and support.

We hold space for healing and to guide the evolution of humankind. Our evolution consists in becoming conscious, it concurs with the illumination of the subconscious mind, where hidden motives and beliefs unconsciously drive our reactions to the world.

If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you. (~ Gospel of Thomas)

Fully Human

In the sacred space, we connect with the human self, holistic and whole, encompassing feelings, emotions, sensations, thoughts, and desires. Seen in our totality and vulnerability, we are also invited into the heart, the center of our being, where all answers can be found. It is like walking a sacred labyrinth, starting on the periphery of our human self, thinking its way out, to walk towards the center, in the eye of the storm where stillness informs the new. There, we touch upon the sacred, the essence of All Things – Spirit present in all forms.

Holding space is the sacred practice of providing safety to support someone (or oneself) without judgment or presumption. It is not fixing or directing a certain outcome. It is rather offering unconditional support from an open heart, generating care and trust for processing and integration to occur.

Deep listening

Holding space requires deep listening. It is a process of inquiry: guiding the gaze within for the light of awareness to shine onto the hidden aspects of the psyche. As we look within, in the soma, we cease to defend or pretend; thoughts come to a stop, even for a brief moment.

The “I”-thought, the voice in the head, wants to find its way out of the situation at hand, out of the feelings, out of the soma, and out of the heart. Yet it is the heart that knows the truth, whereas the thinking mind clings to concepts, learned ideas, and beliefs far from the truth of the matter. Those are passed down from generations, and/or are shared in the collective field.

Deep listening provides the ground of trust and safety for the deep inquiry.

We enter deep inquiry through the gate of Water, the emotional body. By descending into the felt sense of the body, we dive into the ocean of feeling and emotion. How do you/I feel? It is a moment of vulnerability that may be shared in a safe, indeed sacred, container. This inquiry directs us immediately into the present moment, and subsequently to the depth of acceptance and intimacy of the now. As we feel ourselves, we acknowledge our state of consciousness.

Deep listening in trust and safety allows shame and judgment, that sense of “not enough”, to fade from the consciousness of the present moment. Nonetheless, if the feeling is categorized as “bad” the condemnation results in rejection or suppression. We are back into the conceptual mind, away from the heart where the truth resides.

Dual mind and non-dual

The conceptual mind exists in duality: good and bad, white or back, right and wrong. The plane of the New Earth exists in Unity, where duality is transcended for peace to rise.

Peace and love exist together, they are inseparable. If we want to create peace on Earth we shall accept (love) the bad and the wrong. The demons are to be befriended rather than destroyed. What we dislike within, we condemn without, and thus here is the beginning of conflict, war, and global destruction. The source is within, always.

By holding space for one another and modeling loving awareness, we offer the container of our awareness to witness the movements of consciousness navigating its way back to the source, the return to homeostasis. We hold each other in the safety of our loving attention as we midwife the journey to a deeper sense of self-awareness and begin to loosen the grip of our ego-selves.

The principles of holding sacred space:

  • Stepping into the other’s shoes
  • Non-judgemental
  • Radical acceptance

—-> creates safety

  • Listening from the heart
  • Curiosity: asking questions to help the other deepen into the felt sense, enter the gateway of the emotional body to the inner self
  • Modeling radical acceptance “your feelings are valid…”

—> activates the heart for self-compassion to occur

  • Inviting understanding to transmute old beliefs

—-> activation of the inner guru, access to inner wisdom.

Holding space for another is a gift from the heart, an acknowledgment of our shared humanity.
